This web site is designed to exemplify the application of creative theories to the traditional communications classroom. Links and/or citations as well as a precis for each source are available to provide conduits to additional recommended works which provide supporting creative theories.

    Meet Catherine:
  • Catherine graduated from University of Georgia in 2009 with an EDS graduate degree in Adult Learning, Admin. and Policy. Catherine’s additional graduate and undergraduate degrees are in English (MA) from University of Virginia @ George Mason; State University of New York Stony Brook (BA); additional graduate study in Media and Communications at New York Institute of Technology and Northern Illinois University@ Dublin City University (18 cr.). In 2007, she completed an National Endowment for Humanities (NEH) fellowship in Anglo-Irish Literature pre-1600 at Notre Dame; in 2008-11, National Endowment for the Humanities Landmark Grants for study at: Plymouth, Mayflower: (Native Americans and the Puritans), Boston College (John Adams), and Northeastern College (American Lyceum).  More recently Catherine returned from Munich,Germany after presenting and participating in the 2013 International Journal of Arts and Sciences (ijas2013munich.sched.org).
  • In 2013-14, while on sabbatical, she explored her favorite Irish writers’ homes, Irish National Museums & Theaters,as well as European Art and Culture in Florence and Rome, Italy: the Vatican,the Uffizi and Academy Gallery. Catherine was again  honored to receive an additional NEH Landmark Grant: Savannah Landmarks In American History Workshop-African-American History and Culture in GA Lowcountry.
  • Additionally, she is the proud recipient of two Ron Taylor Awards for commitment to students and excellence in teaching: 2010-11. As member of the High Museum of Art and Metropolitan Museum of Art, Catherine is active in the arts in her community; additionally, she served from 2000-10 on the Board of the Humanities and Technology Association, has thirty years of college teaching experience in English and Communications, is an English Professor at North Georgia University, and consults in her own communication firm. Catherine resides in Athens, GA with her husband Sean, and is the mother of three amazing sons: Kevin (GSU), Daniel(UGA) and Matthew(UGA) Mammola
